Product Description

Omnipure K2551 50% Calcite 50% Corosex pH correction and remineralising filter cartridge

pH filter Neutralising/ pH value increasing and remineralising inline filter cartridge.

Omnipure, a well known and trusted US water filter company has developed a pH filter cartridge which provides pH correction/ pH value increasing and remineralising with their 50% Calcite and 50% Corosex cartridge.

The 50%/50% cartridge is a perfect addition to any Reverse Osmosis filter system and can easily be adapted to connect into 1/4" tubing usually just prior to the dispensing tap. It is recommended to have pre-filtration (a sediment and carbon twin filter system) to prevent blocking of inbuilt distribution screens.

To modify your existing filter system to include this pH correcting / remineralising cartridge you'll require 2 x mounting clips, 2 screws, a roll of Teflon thread tape and 2 x John Guest end connectors. This kit is only required when first installing the filter and parts are easily removed and placed onto new filter cartridges every 6 months when a filter change is conducted.

The pH correcting and remineralising cartridge installation kit are available and can also be purchased from our online shop.

Calcite is a crushed and screened white marble media which can be used to neutralise acidic or low pH water to a neutral level and Corosex is a specially processed hard, bead like magnesia oxide adapted for use in filters to neutralise acidity and increase pH value levels beyond pH 7.

The 50% Calcite and 50% Corosex cartridge is more suited in areas where radical pH correction is required of low to very low pH waters or for people requiring their drinking water to be higher in alkalinity.

Due to the high rate of pH correction provided by the Corosex media, serviceable life is limited to a maximum of 6 months. Corosex media should also be upstream of any Calcite media to avoid cementing of Corosex media resin. Backwashing may be required of the Corosex media to prevent possible cementing of the media. A low flow may be an indication of cementing of the Corosex media.

Please note: Under low flow conditions Corosex media may over correct and create a highly basic (high pH) condition. It is not recommended to intentionally over correct pH to levels exceeding pH 8

The difference between Calcite and other forms of pH correcting media is that calcite will correct pH to just over pH 7 (slightly alkaline), and if the water is already at that level it will not further increase the alkalinity level of the water thus extending the serviceable life of the media. Filter media such as Corosex can correct very acidic or low pH water and will continue to increase pH at a rate of 5 times higher than calcium carbonate.
