Biofilm may form on the outer ceramic surface and reduce the flow rate. This can easily be corrected by the customer by simply removing the cartridge and cleaning/ scrubbing the cartridge with a stiff brush or scourer pad under running tap water until clean.

There is no inner carbon core in the Sterasyl and with regular cleaning you could expect between 2 & 4 years of regular use from this cartridge. Once the serviceable life has been reached the filter will need to be replaced with a new cartridge. Ceramic outer may have thinned considerably and my crack/ break in time.
