Product Description

The Dragonfly M18 has a function that enables the connection of an alternate source of water during times of low temps or humidity.

The alternate water source is easily connected to the rear of the Dragonfly and water automatically fills the Dragonfly collection tank when it has been depleted which means the Dragonfly will not try and generate water from the air because the tank will be topped back up with the alternate source of water.

Customers in dryer or colder climates such as Toowoomba, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney have simply connected their Dragonfly to their cold water tap in their laundry so as to enable the Dragonfly to continue to provide them with high quality filtered water 365 days a year.

The installation kit includes 5m of 1/4" high pressure tubing, 1/4" tube x 1/4" tube John guest (JG) ball valve, JG 1/4" tube x 1/4" male thread end connector, JG 1/4" stem elbow, thread tape, Chrome 3/4" male x 3/4" female with 1/4" port tap adapter and a 'Wells' certified 350 KPA pressure limiting valve with 1/4" tube connections. We do suggest that you use a pressure limiting valve as insurance companies will most likely not cover you for accidental damages caused by a ruptured pipe (from very high town water pressure). If you are running off rainwater tanks there may not be a requirement for a 350KPA pressure limiting device as pressure does not usually exceed 650KPA. John Guest tubing and fittings can handle around 800 KPA of water pressure. If you wish to leave the pressure limiting device out of the kit, please notify URWater of your request and we'll take $49 off the price.

You will need to run some tests on your float (on the underside of the collection tank lid) to make sure it allows water to fill up the tank to the point the sensors (on the steel pole in the collection tank) detect the tank is full and turn off the compressor. The other thing that you need to be sure of is that the float shuts off the water before the tank overflows.

The process for the check is as follows:

  • Connect the alternate water source kit to the back of the Dragonfly. Make sure that the GREEN tube is connected to the top of the collection tank lid before you turn the water on.
  • Make sure that your Dragonfly has about 3/4 of a tank of water.
  • Tape up the door switch with some sticky tape (located above the clear panel on the inside of the door). This will allow you to work in the machine with the door open. If you don't have this switch taped up you will be waiting 5 minutes for the compressor to start each time you open the door.
  • Wait for the Dragonfly to start it's compressor. This will be 5 minutes after the power has been turned on or the door has been closed (if you have the door switch taped up this won't apply because it will think the door has been closed the whole time)
  • When the compressor starts turn on the water to fill the tank and wait to see how much water will go in the tank before the water completely shuts off. If the float is set correctly the top white float on the sensor rod (in the collection tank) will lift off its cur clip a few millimeters and then the compressor will shut off (the fan will still continue to run for several minutes to cool the compressor down but you should hear a distinct change in the sound when the compressor shuts down). If the water stops filling up the tank and the float hasn't lifted up you will need to bend (gently) the end of the float up so that the float doesn't shut off the water as early. You'll need to then
